He was elected as Member, Provincial Assembly of the Punjab for the fourth term in general elections 2013 and is performing the duties of Minister for Religious Affairs & Auqaf; he held the portfolio of Social Welfare & Bait-ul-Maal during 2013. He belongs to a well-known political family and his various relations, including his father, have served both National and Provincial Assemblies in various capacities.
